Crowns and Bridges

Dental crowns come in various materials, each with its own advantages. Here are common types:

Metal Crowns:
Metal crowns often made of base metal alloys(cobalt-chromium or nickel-chromium) are known for their strength and durability. They are less aesthetically pleasing than porcelain or ceramic crowns due to their metallic appearance. Nickel is a metal which causes allergies quite frequently. If you are wearing artificial jewellery which causes skin reactions- there is a likelihood that your gum may react the same way.

Porcelain-Fused-to-Metal (PFM) Crowns:
These are a blend of metal and porcelain, combining strength and aesthetics. However, the metal substructure might show as a dark line near the gum plus can be allergic to some.

All-Ceramic Crowns/Porcelain crown/ e-max crowns/metal-free crown:
These deliver excellent aesthetics as they resemble natural teeth in color and texture. They are a good choice for front teeth and are gum friendly at the same time.

Zirconia Crowns:
Zirconia is known for their durability and aesthetic appeal. They are strong enough to withstand the pressure of chewing in molars and are biocompatible with your gums.

Partial Bonded Restorations:
Also known as partial crowns or inlays/onlays, these are new-age dental restorations used to repair teeth with moderate damage. These restorations are made from materials like e-max or composite resin and are custom-fitted to the affected area. They offer a conservative alternative to full crowns, preserving more of the natural tooth structure. Partial bonded restorations are bonded securely to the tooth, providing strength, durability, and an aesthetically pleasing appearance while treating specific areas of damage.
